The Quickest Beach Trip Ever

Can I just say something? Um.......it is HOT!!! Like 100 degrees hot in FL right now!!! I am not one of those that complains about the cold in the winter and the hot in the summer. I appreciate the cold. LOVE it- bring it on! But the summer heat- ugh!! I almost moved to Alaska after seminary- no really, I did consider it. Then I thought about moving to NY. Cold, I can handle. But hot is too hot for me. So..... summer with a toddler who LOVES to be outside is not always the picture of bliss! : ) Ok, it still is bliss, but bliss with a lot of sweat!

I am not sure if you've heard or not but there's been an oil spill.....Oh, you've heard? Well, I'll spare you the details then. But, it's headed this way, and unless God decides to stop it before it gets to PCB, well, it will be here eventually. So, all us PCBers are trying to soak up the beach while we can. At this point I will refer you back to paragraph one for a reread.

So, I decided to take Bethany to the beach today, mainly because my pass to get on the navy base expired yesterday and I need to renew it and there were some big bugs in our backyard pool today.  Sooooo, we lathered up in sunscreen, put on bathing suits and swim diapers (just her, not me), and loaded up the car. But what took me 30 seconds to write took me a half an hour to do in real life. Then we trekked out to the beach. 23 pounds of baby in one arm, 23 pounds of beach gear in the other.  So all in all, probably took us 45 minutes to get settled down on the beach. Bethany started playing in the sand, I snapped a few Iphone pics, we took two trips into the water. And then Bethany declared, "Home!" and headed back towards the car. SERIOUSLY?!?!!?! Ok, so I gathered up our stuff headed back up the enormous hill of sand to the car, burned my feet on the pavement trying to find my shoes and clicked open the car locks. "Beach", I hear my sweet child utter. "No, we're going home......."

But I must say, the beach was gorgeous, Gorgeous! Please come to the beach. There is no oil here right now and you're missing out if you're not here! And the Vit D feels so good, even if I have to sweat to get it!
