Just being honest...


Paperwork, long waits, feeling out of control in the adoption process. All "hard" parts of the adoption process. So far, nothing comes close to the difficulty of leaving this adorable face for 12 days. Y'all, it will be really hard to say goodbye to her at the airport- start praying now.  I really want to enjoy our time in China, to enjoy the first 5 days where it's just me and my lovely husband, and then to take the other days to begin to bond with our new soon. I pray for the freedom to relax and enjoy the journey. Pray for her tender heart too- she's been "off" the past few days and we know she is very sad that we're leaving. 12 days- we can make it! :)

On a lighter note, we're almost totally ready. Bags are pretty much packed, his room is ready, paperwork is printed off, and a million other to do list items have been checked off. My Mom arrives tomorrow and Tom is taking the day off. So it will be a family fun day!

And then we leave bright and early Wednesday morning. There's a bright eyed, dimple faced boy waiting for us on the other side of the world.

I am praying for you and your family during this time. Just remember in the grand scheme of things 12 days will be nothing in the lives of your two precious children!

It will be so hard to leave your little girl, but soon you'll be home with both your children! We are worried about leaving our older son at home too, but we know we are making the right decision. Happy packing and preparing for travel!

We knew all weeked that the new list was coming out on Monday night. I got more and more nervous as we got closer. By Tuesday morning, I was popping the pepto bismal chewables-heartburn which I have only had one other time (at the end of my pregnancy). Happy 16th Birthday Caleb!!

Happy 16th Birthday Caleb!! You are close to 5'5" and still growing. You finished 10th grade, and continued to rock it, excelling in a very challenging set of classes! You passed three more AP classes and several dual enrollment courses as well.  You were in the SAIL (AP Program), AP Capstone Club, Mu Alpha Theta (Math honor society), ASL Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Beta Club, and marching band. You placed third in the state for the Beta Convention Math Competition. You started a countywide club called BAM (Bay Area Mathematicians).  You are in your 11th year of playing piano and were accepted into the University of Florida International Piano Festival with partial scholarship and the FSU Piano Institute.   Happy 17th Birthday Bethany!!! You are about 5'2" but really you're like 5'1.5"! Small but mighty! You finished your junior year of high school and are entering your SENIOR YEAR!!! You had a very challenging academic course load but you soared and earned your AP Capstone diploma. You were part of a lot of clubs including one that you started called Kards for Kids that makes cards for kids in the hospital. You are also part of the SAIL program, AP Capstone, Mu Alpha Theta, Tri M, Science National Honor Society, National Honor Society, ASL Honor Society, and Next Gen. You were section leader this year for band and had a solo in the marching show.
