March Update!

I have been horrible keeping up with this blog lately. And actually, I've been horrible at keeping up with a lot of things in life these days- there are thank you notes to write, phone calls to be returned, emails to reply to, facebook wallposts to be responded to.

So here's the latest:

1. Bethany passed her hearing test although they didn't do as in depth testing as we were hoping for. But she has started vocalizing more and here and there I hear a consonant thrown in there. So, it will come eventually.

2. She waves hello and goodbye now. If I am nursing her and Tom walks by she will just wave at him without even looking up. She just raises her little hand and gives him a wave- cute!!!!

3.She can CRAWL!!! Aaaaaahh! She started a couple weeks ago- but it took until yesterday for her to master it. And oh boy!! We are in trouble. She is into EVERYTHING! How does she find every little thing on the floor- and how do I keep those things off the floor so they won't end up in her mouth? I told Tom at dinner last night that it seems like she is becoming more work the older she gets. Wait until she's in middle school right?

4. In addition to the crawling, I went into her room this morning to get her and she had pulled herself up to a kneeling position and was peering at me over the side of the crib. Guess we should go ahead and lower the mattress! Remember when this would hold her?



5. She got recognized in the store yesterday as the Baby Idol Winner! How fun!!

6. I have become a frugal coupon shopper. And in the past two weeks I have saved close to $300!!! For example, I got the new Bolt movie yesterday which was on sale at Target for $16 for only $7. Now, that's a deal. And the other day, I spent 27 cents at CVS and came away with two bags full of stuff! 7. Tom and I are doing great. We are attempting to plant a garden. We'll see how that goes! We are busy with prep for our Nicaragua Trip. We still have a lot of money to raise. But our team raised $1400 at our chili dinner recently! We can't wait to go. In addition to the work we do with our team, we also get to meet our compassion child Fabiola who lives in Leon and Pastor Felix who we support through a program at Killearn UMC called the 12 Churches.

We are surviving spring break Panama City 2009! But I am ready for it to be over!!! It's time for my vacation from the vacationers! And we get one in May! After my last POPS concert of the season, we will be heading to Lakeland for a week long vacation- Discovery Cove, Sea World, Aquatica, Busch Gardens, Disney!! Aaaah- I can't wait. Someone gave us the Discovery Cove trip as a wedding present and it includes everything but the Disney part. Yay!!!

We knew all weeked that the new list was coming out on Monday night. I got more and more nervous as we got closer. By Tuesday morning, I was popping the pepto bismal chewables-heartburn which I have only had one other time (at the end of my pregnancy). There was no guarantee we would even receive a referral off the list, but we were hopeful. Happy 16th Birthday Caleb!!

Happy 16th Birthday Caleb!! You are close to 5'5" and still growing. You finished 10th grade, and continued to rock it, excelling in a very challenging set of classes! You passed three more AP classes and several dual enrollment courses as well.  You were in the SAIL (AP Program), AP Capstone Club, Mu Alpha Theta (Math honor society), ASL Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Beta Club, and marching band. You placed third in the state for the Beta Convention Math Competition. You started a countywide club called BAM (Bay Area Mathematicians).  You are in your 11th year of playing piano and were accepted into the University of Florida International Piano Festival with partial scholarship and the FSU Piano Institute. You chose FSU for the third year. You were part of a masterclass with the Gulf Coast College Professors. Happy 17th Birthday Bethany!

  Happy 17th Birthday Bethany!!! You are about 5'2" but really you're like 5'1.5"! Small but mighty! You finished your junior year of high school and are entering your SENIOR YEAR!!! You had a very challenging academic course load but you soared and earned your AP Capstone diploma. You were part of a lot of clubs including one that you started called Kards for Kids that makes cards for kids in the hospital. You are also part of the SAIL program, AP Capstone, Mu Alpha Theta, Tri M, Science National Honor Society, National Honor Society, ASL Honor Society, and Next Gen. You were section leader this year for band and had a solo in the marching show. You earned a superior at district and state solo and ensemble and another superior for a duet at district solo ensemble.
