There's No Place Like Home
There is a waterpark in Panama City and I plan on getting a season pass this summer so that Bethy and I can spend our days floating lazily down the lazy river. The reality of that may not be so lazy (10 month old, water, tons of other lazy drifters, sunscreen, bathing suits, you get the picture). Anyways, today was the day. After thouroughly sunscreening my fairskinned self and my just as pale daughter, putting on bathing suits, packing a bag, and grabbing a snack for the baby, we headed out. We pulled up into a prime parking spot (yes!!) but to my dismay there was no one in the park! It was not open today- come back Thursday the sign says! Dang it!
Ok, on to plan B- there's a park near by with a fun kiddie pool area that Bethany loves. It's $10 total for the two of us but it beats dealing with the sand of the beach (I wasn't in the mood for sand today). So we drive the 15 minutes there, get out of the car, and head to the ticket counter. I hand her my credit card and she tells me they don't take credit cards. Seriously?!? Cash or check only. Normally this would be no problem but today I was packed for the waterpark (no purse) so I had NO cash or check. So we head back to the car and I desperately search for some cash. I found an envelope with garage sale change in it and random other coins from the glove box, center console, etc. I come up with an impressive $8.35- but not $10. I consider begging random people in the parking lot for a couple bucks but decide against. So I take my now irritated daughter the 30 minutes back home and we jump in our humble pool. She squeals with glee and fun is had by all. Go figure...
But can I tell you about the wonderful day I had yesterday? My wonderful husband took Bethany out for daddy/daughter day from 7am-2pm! I needed that break. I was able to get things done that had been piling up for weeks and I managed to squeeze in a chick flick on the couch too! And to top it all off, when the two of them came home they brought Dave's New Orleans snowballs (the best!) and flowers! Then Tom weeded the garden, cleaned out the pool and did the dishes after dinner. Um ,yeah, PERFECT DAY!!
