Post Cruise Update


Just got back from the cruise. I've heard people talk about needing a vacation from their vacation and now I understand it. We had a good time but taking a 2 year old on a cruise is a lot of work especially when said 2 year old has just been diagnosed with asthma and momma of 2 year old gets stomach bug that lasts for three days of the trip. But memories were made, fun was had, and we are back on land! And all in all Bethy was a GREAT cruiser. She even got praised several times for her behavior by others on the ship.

Our floors look done- we need to talk to the flooring guy today to see if they're totally done- we may have a few touch ups to do but other than that it looks great and we're happy with them so far. Thanks to Carpet One and John Shepard for everything. They are stellar and if you live in Panama City and need flooring, look them up and tell them we sent you!  :) I'll post pics soon but we went with this stuff called Earthscapes in the living areas and kids' bedrooms and new carpet in the master and guest bedroom. We saved a ton of money by using the Earthscapes and we think it looks good too! So, today we'll start moving our stuff back in. We had wonderful help last Thursday to move furniture out and already have some help for Saturday to move it back in. Thanks to everyone who has helped!

We are switching to Holt International as our new adoption agency. It's been a long, complicated, frustrating saga and I won't go into details here but you can ask me in person or email and I'll give you more of the details. But we think Holt will be fine and in the end, we'll have a son. We may delay receiving a match until we get Bethy's asthma under control but other than that, we should be on track now. Oh, and we got our fingerprints done yesterday so we should have USCIS approval fairly soon and then our paperwork for China will be our next step.

Ok, I think that's it for now. We're doing well and are thankful for friends and family. Looking for to Thanksgiving next week and to have all our family with us.

We knew all weeked that the new list was coming out on Monday night. I got more and more nervous as we got closer. By Tuesday morning, I was popping the pepto bismal chewables-heartburn which I have only had one other time (at the end of my pregnancy). There was no guarantee we would even receive a referral off the list, but we were hopeful. Tuesday morning I took Bethany to church for mother's morning out, nervously bought soap and 75% of Valentine's conversaion hearts at Target, and then I went to Panera and got a fruit punch. Happy 16th Birthday Caleb!!

Happy 16th Birthday Caleb!! You are close to 5'5" and still growing. You finished 10th grade, and continued to rock it, excelling in a very challenging set of classes! You passed three more AP classes and several dual enrollment courses as well.  You were in the SAIL (AP Program), AP Capstone Club, Mu Alpha Theta (Math honor society), ASL Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Beta Club, and marching band. You placed third in the state for the Beta Convention Math Competition. You started a countywide club called BAM (Bay Area Mathematicians).  You are in your 11th year of playing piano and were accepted into the University of Florida International Piano Festival with partial scholarship and the FSU Piano Institute. You chose FSU for the third year. You were part of a masterclass with the Gulf Coast College Professors. Happy 17th Birthday Bethany!

  Happy 17th Birthday Bethany!!! You are about 5'2" but really you're like 5'1.5"! Small but mighty! You finished your junior year of high school and are entering your SENIOR YEAR!!! You had a very challenging academic course load but you soared and earned your AP Capstone diploma. You were part of a lot of clubs including one that you started called Kards for Kids that makes cards for kids in the hospital. You are also part of the SAIL program, AP Capstone, Mu Alpha Theta, Tri M, Science National Honor Society, National Honor Society, ASL Honor Society, and Next Gen. You were section leader this year for band and had a solo in the marching show. You earned a superior at district and state solo and ensemble and another superior for a duet at district solo ensemble.
