We're alive....I Think

Hi neglected blog friends,

Most of my readers already know everything from facebook but I didn't want to totally neglect those of you from other places that read. So, for you, I give you this post.

Caleb is doing marvelous. He stays in childcare and with babysitters sometimes and there's no trauma or drama (most of the time). He drinks from a sippy cup (without the no spill plug). He can sign about 10 words. He pretends to read and makes sounds when he does. He's much more stable when he walks. He is enjoying playing on playgrounds. He is sleeping well. He still has some days where he has fits of crying and he gets easily overstimulated by new situations (and he is still terrified of elevators). But overall, we're so pleased with how he's doing. His surgery for his palate and tubes is coming up on Tuesday.

Bethany is also doing well. Sometimes I forget she has asthma because she's been so well this year! We've made a lot of changes in our house, some in her diet, and found medicine that works. If you're facing asthma with your child, let me know and I'll let you know what's worked for us. She loves school and after combining with another class and teacher, she is back with her little friend Kyle. She's also made a new best girl friend Adria. As you know Bethy is a Gator fan through and through and will cry and tell you you're being mean if you try and say otherwise. But she has started calling her self a Seminole Gator this week. Maybe she knows the Seminoles won and she doesn't want to miss out on that awesomeness? Just sayin...... She's still enjoying gymnastics and loves going to children's church too. She is quite knowledgeable about the Bible and her and Daddy read a lot every night. She's been a great big sister too. She even filed up her "Being Kind" sticker sheet and got to go on a date with Daddy to see Elmo's Hero's Live Show.

My hubby turned another year older. I am thankful for him and we've had a fun time celebrating his birthday! He got to take some time off and come down to Lakeland with us for Thanksgiving. The kids love when he gets a lot of days off in a row (so do I!). Caleb was plastered to him like glue.

In the meantime, I have not been feeling well since mid-November. It was confirmed this week that I have mono. On top of that I got strep throat at the beginning of this week. The strep has been really bad and from what the doctor says, I was on the road to a hospital stay. But hopefully we have avoided that now.
I know why you're supposed to get mono as a kid/teen. Moms and mono don't mix. Not only was I exhausted (beyond the normal Momma exhaustion) for weeks while taking care of 2 kids before I knew it was mono, now I have to be isolated from them so I don't expose them any more than they already have been. So I haven't really touched or talked to my kids since Monday morning. Same goes for the hubby. We're extra cautious because of Caleb's surgery. He can't have it if he's sick.

Tom has taken almost the whole week off to be with the kids while I recover and he's been a real super hero!

So, I'll just continue to live in my bedroom, trying not to go crazy, accepting help where I can, and resting as much as possible. And if you could say a prayer that my throat would get a lot better, that would be good. I also wouldn't mind if the mono would take a hike too! And sweet Caleb in your prayers for his surgery next week. I'll try and keep you posted.
