What A Week!!

Let's recap-

Last Monday-we found out Bethy needed eartubes and scheduled the surgery for this coming Friday.

Wednesday- At school Bethy got bitten by some sort of bug and developed a staph infection.

Thursday- We were at the dr. taking care of the staph infection. Also, we learned that my Uncle Jimmy was not doing well and in Hospice care.

Friday- I stayed home with Bethy because of the staph infection. We made the decision to go to see my uncle on Sunday (leaving Sat with a stop for the night on the way). Friday night we got the call that our Letter of Acceptance from China was in and would be delivered Saturday. We also called the ENT to reschedule Bethy's ear tube surgery- it will now be next Friday.

Saturday- We planned to pack and get stuff done around the house while waiting for the LOA package to arrive. We got the call that my uncle was not doing well. We raced around packing quickly and arranging for someone to pick up the package up for us. As we were walking out the door (our house a disaster from the quick packing), we got the call that Uncle Jimmy had passed away. We headed straight there to be with family. Had dinner with my family and drove to Tallahassee for the night.

Sunday- We had a lovely morning with some friends in Tallahassee. Left for home around lunchtime. On the way home, I felt dog tired and started having chills. By 5:00 that night I was full on sick!

Monday morning- Trip to the doctor confirms the flu. Most of the day is a blur to me. But our LOA that was supposed to come Saturday finally made it. It was 1/2 pound of paper. I had a ton of urgent paperwork to do. There was one form I filled out 7 times because I was so sick I kept filling it out wrong. That night Tom went through everything with me to make sure it was right.

Tuesday- A blur of more flu. Tom mailed all our paperwork back.

And Halleluiah!! Today I feel so much better!!! Not perfect, but I feel human again!! Phew what a week!

My Uncle Jimmy was a very kind man with a warm smile and an infectious laugh. A great to friend to my father. A good man. He will be missed.

We knew all weeked that the new list was coming out on Monday night. I got more and more nervous as we got closer. By Tuesday morning, I was popping the pepto bismal chewables-heartburn which I have only had one other time (at the end of my pregnancy). There was no guarantee we would even receive a referral off the list, but we were hopeful. Happy 16th Birthday Caleb!!

Happy 16th Birthday Caleb!! You are close to 5'5" and still growing. You finished 10th grade, and continued to rock it, excelling in a very challenging set of classes! You passed three more AP classes and several dual enrollment courses as well.  You were in the SAIL (AP Program), AP Capstone Club, Mu Alpha Theta (Math honor society), ASL Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Beta Club, and marching band. You placed third in the state for the Beta Convention Math Competition. You started a countywide club called BAM (Bay Area Mathematicians).  You are in your 11th year of playing piano and were accepted into the University of Florida International Piano Festival with partial scholarship and the FSU Piano Institute. Happy 17th Birthday Bethany!

  Happy 17th Birthday Bethany!!! You are about 5'2" but really you're like 5'1.5"! Small but mighty! You finished your junior year of high school and are entering your SENIOR YEAR!!! You had a very challenging academic course load but you soared and earned your AP Capstone diploma. You were part of a lot of clubs including one that you started called Kards for Kids that makes cards for kids in the hospital. You are also part of the SAIL program, AP Capstone, Mu Alpha Theta, Tri M, Science National Honor Society, National Honor Society, ASL Honor Society, and Next Gen. You were section leader this year for band and had a solo in the marching show. You earned a superior at district and state solo and ensemble and another superior for a duet at district solo ensemble.
