I Almost Hugged the Mailman

So, even though we knew our I800 preapproval was given a few days ago, we were still waiting for the letter to arrive in the mail. I thought it would come Friday but no. So I was SURE it would come today. I had just asked Tom if he had heard the mailman yet. He said he hadn't been listening. Some people in the Fanning household aren't mailman stalkers- guess there has to be one normal person right? But then I heard the truck! WOOOHOOO! I ran to the mailbox, flung the door open, and it wasn't there. I vomited a little in my mouth. Ok, I didn't. But my stomach did start to ache. I began to imagine the letter washed up on some remote island with a crazy bearded man, and a volleyball named Wilson. Lost forever.....



It was then, in the middle of figuring out how to track down our letter that I saw the mailman walking back towards me. Maybe he was going to ask me to stop stalking me. But no, what's that I see? Is it a bill? Is it an ad? No, it's THE LETTER!!!!! "I've got some more mail for you Ma'am." I preceded to kiss and hug his feet. Ok, I didn't cause that would be weird! But I did say, "Thank you, that is what I was waiting for." My subtle way of telling him I'll quit stalking him......until I'm waiting for the next thing to come in the mail of course!

So, it's here. Safe and sound. It says that Caleb can be adopted. And in case you're wondering, I'm already obsessing over the next thing we're waiting for but it's an email I'm waiting for so no scaring the mailman for a few weeks!

We knew all weeked that the new list was coming out on Monday night. I got more and more nervous as we got closer. By Tuesday morning, I was popping the pepto bismal chewables-heartburn which I have only had one other time (at the end of my pregnancy). There was no guarantee we would even receive a referral off the list, but we were hopeful. Happy 16th Birthday Caleb!! You are close to 5'5" and still growing. You finished 10th grade, and continued to rock it, excelling in a very challenging set of classes! You passed three more AP classes and several dual enrollment courses as well.  You were in the SAIL (AP Program), AP Capstone Club, Mu Alpha Theta (Math honor society), ASL Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Beta Club, and marching band. You placed third in the state for the Beta Convention Math Competition. You started a countywide club called BAM (Bay Area Mathematicians).  You are in your 11th year of playing piano and were accepted into the University of Florida International Piano Festival with partial scholarship and the FSU Piano Institute.   Happy 17th Birthday Bethany!!! You are about 5'2" but really you're like 5'1.5"! Small but mighty! You finished your junior year of high school and are entering your SENIOR YEAR!!! You had a very challenging academic course load but you soared and earned your AP Capstone diploma. You were part of a lot of clubs including one that you started called Kards for Kids that makes cards for kids in the hospital.
