We're a Family.....FOREVER!

Caleb was much warmer towards us this morning. He saw us and knew us. He played with us and we even got some smiles. He was ok as long as we weren't holding him. We didn't push it. There was a lot of paperwork to do. Once the final signature was put on paper, he was officially ours. The handoff was tearful from both Caleb and his orphanage director. She thanked us and we thanked her. He has been so loved. He came with several outfits, new squeaky shoes, a bottle, milk, rice cereal, diapers and toys. We are so blessed by this generosity and love.
 
He was handed off to Ba Ba (Daddy) and he was very upset. He kept pointing towards the door that his caregivers had gone out of. But as soon as we got in the van, he settled down. He loves the van and all the things he can watch out the windows. Before long he was snoring away on Ba Ba. We stopped to get some food to go and are now at the hotel. Caleb Shen Lai is asleep in his crib. We expect another hour of sleep from him and then we'll see how he reacts when he wakes up.
 
Tomorrow we have an early flight to Guangzhou which is where we finish everything up. There is not much to do in Caleb's province so we are thankful that we are headed to a more kid friendly place.
 
We're all doing well and we're excited to see Caleb blossom over the coming days and weeks. Keep praying.

We knew all weeked that the new list was coming out on Monday night. I got more and more nervous as we got closer. By Tuesday morning, I was popping the pepto bismal chewables-heartburn which I have only had one other time (at the end of my pregnancy). Happy 16th Birthday Caleb!! You are close to 5'5" and still growing. You finished 10th grade, and continued to rock it, excelling in a very challenging set of classes! You passed three more AP classes and several dual enrollment courses as well.  You were in the SAIL (AP Program), AP Capstone Club, Mu Alpha Theta (Math honor society), ASL Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Beta Club, and marching band. You placed third in the state for the Beta Convention Math Competition. You started a countywide club called BAM (Bay Area Mathematicians).  You are in your 11th year of playing piano and were accepted into the University of Florida International Piano Festival with partial scholarship and the FSU Piano Institute.   Happy 17th Birthday Bethany!!! You are about 5'2" but really you're like 5'1.5"! Small but mighty! You finished your junior year of high school and are entering your SENIOR YEAR!!! You had a very challenging academic course load but you soared and earned your AP Capstone diploma. You were part of a lot of clubs including one that you started called Kards for Kids that makes cards for kids in the hospital. You are also part of the SAIL program, AP Capstone, Mu Alpha Theta, Tri M, Science National Honor Society, National Honor Society, ASL Honor Society, and Next Gen.
