The Easy Life
How's it going?
It's going ok.... It's really hard to have perspective when you're tired and have a cold. Yup, I picked up a cold along the way so now I'm a sniffling mess.
Caleb is mostly happy. He smiles and laughs a lot. He likes to throw things and drop things. He has this mischevious grin- I told Tom, that boy's going to be trouble! ; ) Bethany says Caleb's a Gator. There's no hope for me! I am surrounded by them. I will stand strong though- Seminole forever! Caleb's sleeping in our bed. He cries a lot when we leave him in the pack and play (in our room). We want our sleep and we want him to feel secure so into the bed it is. Rules we had with Bethy don't apply here and that's ok. Caleb likes the car seat, doesn't complain at all. I hope it's always that way but I know better. He's super attached to Tom. When Tom's not around he's attached to me. : ). He's eaten baby food a couple times which is a huge success. We've gone swimming once and he still likes it. He slept through the night last night and naps have been great. Overall, he's doing well.
Bethany and him take turns being jealous and toy possesive. But overall, it's going well. Bethany likes being the older sister and likes to help out with Caleb. She asks about him as soon as she wakes up. On Wednesday, she packed a container full of toys for her ride to school. This is somehting she often does and I assumed they were for her. When we got in the car she gave them all to Caleb. It was very sweet and I was so proud of her. The hardest times are when they both want Daddy's lap or arms. Tom should be very strong after all the carrying he has to do.
As for me? It's a rollercoaster. There are really great moments and really difficult moments. To see how far Caleb has come in under two weeks makes me feel like we are really making a difference in his life. To see Bethy rise to the challenege of loving him and serving him makes me proud of her. Balanacing being a Mom of two children is my greatest challenge so far in life. Next week, Tom goes back to work half time. I will miss him. It's been really fun to hang out with him so much. I also welcome the routine and the chance to have more one on one or one on two time with them.
This is one crazy ride that's for sure. But I am happy we're on it!
Our former pastor often prayed this at the end of his sermons and it has become planted in my heart and mind:
"Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men. Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers. Pray for powers equal to your tasks. Then the doing of your work shall be no miracle, but you shall be the miracle. Every day you shall wonder at yourself, at the richness of life which has come to you by the grace of God."

PS I see that you finally got Caleb out of the pink clothes, now that he's home, but you've got him drinking out of a pink cup! ;) Guess he likes that color!
